OVERVIEW

This British trench club was made by placing a flanged metal ring on a standard entrenching tool handle. While the First World War is strongly associated with the introduction of modern weaponry, primitive melee weapons still had a place in the close-quarters fighting encountered during trench raids. Decommissioned or broken heavy machinery was often re-purposed and you can see the cog-like look as though this could have been a gear from a tank or other large artillery. There was no shortage of uses for parts.

We've come across Canadian and British versions of this club which was sometimes referred to as a ‘knobkerry’ reinforcing its popularity and effectiveness. This durable and devastating weapon has a steel shim with a flanged ring over the top which is then pinned through. The shaft is solid, stained American Hickory.

Very Authentic
Excellent replica of a real trench mace. Very sturdy and looks & feels like an authentic piece. Surprisingly heavy - but considering its purpose - necessary… Saw the same type in the U.S. National WW 1 Museum.

Nice Replica of a Classic Weapon
What a brutal tool - I love it. It is very well made and I think it would hold up in battle well too. Between the hefty weight of it and the end piece,  I wonder how effective it was on an enemy wearing a helmet. Any poor soul not wearing a helmet would have been down permanently with the first blow. It is going on my wall of classic weapons.

Best Purchase Ever
This thing is solid and well made. This is a real weapon that you could use to hit things with . It isn't just a showpiece. Granted if you start hitting rocks or something it might damage it but for it's intended use it is the real deal. It is a straight up murder stick. It varies from the original in that the handle is round and somewhat wide rather than oval like a hammer, and the cog is fitted from the front end rather than sliding up the handle so it could be removed like the originals. This cog is fixed with what appears to be a steel pin that is fitted all the way through the cog. It isn't going anywhere it seems very secure and well constructed. The handle is 17" long and 1-1/4" in diameter. The cog is 2-3/4" in diameter and just over 1-1/2' in height. It weighs 2.4 pounds and is labeled as made in India. I couldn't be happier with my WW1 Trench Mace. It is awesome.

Mighty and Fierce
This is one weapon I would have never want to meet up with in a trench or any other location during a battle.  Heavy, mighty and fierce; this club is a powerful combat piece in any war at any location!
