Great piece of history seldom seen, very pleased
This knife is an exceptional value for the money.  It makes a wonderful display piece.  The scabbard is an authentic reproduction of the real item, the details including the metal fasteners are really well done, the workmanship is surprisingly good.  Th only area for improvement here would be to do the scabbard in a "natural" shade of leather.

Lives up to expectations.
I have loved the look of this knife since I first saw it in the catalog years ago.  I finally treated myself to the real thing and I am not disappointed -- it's sleek, fast and sharp -- everything I expected it to be.

Excellent Reproduction
My husband is a WWII re-enactor that does FSSF 6-3.  We just received this knife last weekend.  He was SO impressed.  The scabbard is a dead ringer for the original.
In his research, he found only 3 things different from the original.  First, the original had a hollow ground blade.  Second, the original had leather stacked washers and, third, it had a straighter hilt.
This is an absolutely beautiful knife with a lot of attention to detail.  Another person commented that this knife is sinister.  My husband could not agree more.    At this price point, you can't go wrong.  To find a better repro, you would have to buy a Case that starts at $750.

Great knife . David verified purchase
Great knife, sinister style that makes your blood rise as the heart of the foe sinks. Quality sheath, CARBON STEEL, no the cheap stainless that that comes with the imposters. A lot of people whine because the leather on the handle is wrapped and not like the original. Well, knives are meant to be used, and if you are in a life or death free for all, I do not you or your opponent are going to be worrying about  what is on the handle. As I stated.. quality is awesome. I plan on buying one for my brother and a good friend whole appreciate a quality knife with quality work man ship. The ladies who took my order and answered my question are top notch!

Disappointing
I will have to admit that I am very disappointed in this knife. It was described as collectors grade in the catalog but when I received it, the first thing that I saw was that the handle was leather wrapped and not stacked leather washers as was the original. At that price point I should have known that the knife would not be collectors grade. Accurate copies of the V-42 start at $100 and go up from there. And if I had read the reviews before purchase, I would have seen that the handle wasn't stacked leather. The knife itself isn't bad, it just isn't a very accurate copy.

WWII V-42 Elite Special Forces Knife with Scabbard Replica
I own an original V-42 issued to an Uncle who served in the US Army in Europe during WWII, the Atlanta Cutlery is a very good replica of the original.

Much better than expected !!
Appears to be an excellent knife for the money. I liked the fact that blade was "blued", rather than parkerized.
Apparently original knives were not parkerized.  Previous review states handle is wrapped, not leather "washers", but on knife I received, you really cant tell. Metallurgy: Looks good. Does not appear soft. Would I trust this knife in combat application? Probably not, but looks to be an excellent example for reenactors,  or display. Sheath: Pretty good interpretation of original style, but if I carried one, would probably change to leather,M-6 style with metal plates at tip area.  Overall a plesantly suprisingly nice V-42!!

Definitely recommend to a friend.
Good well built knife. No other knife I've found fits as well in my hand as the v42. Blued finish on blade is beautiful. It could use a little sharpening, although the blade tip is like a needle. I would have given 5 stars if the handle was leather washers. It's not, it's a wrapped leather thong, but still feels nice. Other than that, the only other thing is. The scabbard is about 2 inches to long for me. But overall I'm well satisfied. I would highly recommend this to a friend.

DEVILS BRIGADE!
I really like this blade! Not only is it HISTORICALLY accurate, but the personal engraving is AWESOME! I went with the VIKING ITALCS & my SWEDISH BLOOD BOILS! The grip, ( you cannot see in picture ) is actually LEATHER WRAPPED! Remember, this particular commando dagger was designed by the SPECIAL FORCES COMMANDER HIMSELF! Leather WON’T freeze to your skin, or BURN you in the BLAZING HOT DESERT!

Another great fighting knife
Finally the V-42 has arrived.  Fantastic quality.  Sharp.  This knife really feels good in the hand.  I always check each of my knifes for the balance point.  This one is similar to my Sykes.  Even though a reproduction, it is cool to hold a very historic knife and also do some training.

Quality craftsmanship with nice weight and balance in my hand.  Very sharp.  Scabbard with belt loop and leg tie is a nice addition.

Cool knife
Well made and solid.  Great copy of the original.  1095 steel is always good. Factory edge won't slice paper though.

Thank you for your review.  While we do our best to provide a sharp edge, there is always room for improvement on a knife.   Nothing takes the place of an individual effort to get the sharpest edge on a knife or sword.  Thanks again.
