It's a great version of a historic blade.
Beautiful and comfortable in the hand, beautiful balance and a nice weight. One of my favorite purchases.

Cutless
An excellent functional sword as used by the navy boarding parties in the days of sails.

Purchased this for my husband's care giver when she made Petty Officer, she loved it. My husband is a retired disabled Army Senior NCO.

I own an original Ames Cutlass that I purchased for $450.  This is as close to the original Ames as humanly possible.  The other reproductions out there are cheap looking, flimsy and nothing like the M1860 which I own.  The only true difference is the scabbard which, I am sure, would add a much bigger price to the item the original scabbard is fastened by many brass pins and not sown.  Buy this reproduction!!  For the price you cannot go wrong!!

Very high quality for the price. I got the sharpening service for an additional fee and the edge is excellent. For a cutlass, it's a surprisingly agile sword. Very happy with the purchase.

Overall a nice copy of the old 1860 cutlass. My specimen was well assembled and finished and nicely packaged to boot. I do wish that the acceptance marks and manufacturer logo marks were better stamped .Still and all a nice  copy and very close to my original.

I used one like it on the border in 2005-2006, and it was a great weapon. This one seems to be just as good.
