OVERVIEW

Designed by George Patton around 1910, when he was still just a Lieutenant, this style sword was commonly attached to a trooper's saddle. The Patton was designed to be a thrusting sword only, it was not sharpened and due to its cross section would not take a good edge anyway. Although some kind of edge can be achieved, it was not traditionally done since adding an edge means thinning the metal which can compromise the strength, especially when thrusting on horseback. Features a tempered, single fullered high carbon steel blade, steel guard and a hard plastic handle which is solidly constructed and easy to grip. Includes a wood scabbard with steel mounts. Finely crafted by Windlass Steelcrafts and comes factory sharp.

Really is as the originals were.
Fabulous.  I own an original, and this is identical to how it would have looked when it was new (no scratches or dents).  Blade is perfect, shield is excellent, and the grip is authoritative and properly grippy.  Could do with a leather spacer (it comes with a plastic one), but you can find one or make one yourself for a few dollars if it's important to you.

This is the sword that George Patton insisted upon, and which our cavalry would have carried with them to France.

It was almost exactly what I wanted! The ONLY reason it did not get 5 stars is because the tip/point was VERY blunt! the tip was 1/32 to 1/16 at the point which was slightly rounded. Even my original, in rusted but whole condition still had a point! As a replica, it should have had a point. Even if that point was unsharpened. I fixed that problem myself. Otherwise - Excellent!

The Windlass Patton saber, is as accurate a replica as is currently available. The only change I would make would be to have the Windlass made in India cartouche be a removable sticker rather than have it engraved on the blade.
