OVERVIEW

This is a new scabbard for "Longleaf" kukri knife.  The longleaf was made for war.  This army model was the choice for hand to hand combat with its longer blade and straighter spine than the bhojpure.

Does Not Fit
This comes not even close to fitting.  The kukri spine is .507” and the opening in the scabbard is only .390”.  I have requested another scabbard or refund.

Long leaf and scabbard
I bought mine several years ago now.. All I can say is- mine has fit well into the new-made scabbard, no issues. Thanks ACC! There are others Ive purchased and can say the same- good quality stuff.. given the age particularly. Doubtful I'll be making any kookeri charges in this lifetime, but should I need to I would be able to count on these old warhorses and the new scabbards sold here by ACC...

LongLeaf Scabbard
I received my scabbard today (Sat. 9-22) and it was well packaged. The scabbard is beautiful and well made. I have been collecting Kukris (pronounced Kook-ree) for years. I didn't have a scabbard for my LongLeaf Kukri but I sure was glad to see Atlanta Cutlery was getting these hand-made Water Buffalo skin wrapped ones from India. It takes a little pushing

Mine came in black with a silver steel tip.  It was more ornate that the one pictured.  It is all wood inside with a leather covering and decorative cord wrapping it.  On the back are the 2 knives in very nice condition with a tinder pouch.  My longleaf fits nicely and I quickly made a leather frog.  The longleaf is a giant of a knife, and so is the scabbard.  You could just stick this thing inside of a heavy gunbelt.  In any case I am very pleased.  It looks great.

I was worried that this scabbard wouldn't be wide enough to accommodate my kukri blade, as its belly dimensions are closer to a budhuna kukri than to a Classic Gurka Army Kukri (long leaf).  I needn't have worried; this thing is a monster!  At 17" long by 4" wide there was plenty of room for my Kukri.  I only wish that it had come with a faras (belt hanger) but they're easy enough to make with a few scraps of leather and some lacing.  I would definitely recommend this to anyone needing a CGAK or budhuna scabbard.

This is a well-made replica of the original long leaf scabbard, made of wood, covered in leather with a brass tip. As such, you have to slowly work the blade into the scabbard the first time. It takes some time but loosens up after that. There is no belt loop to carry this Kukri, so I'm curious how it was originally carried. Was a belt frog used, or was it just stuffed into a belt?

The scabbard is of good construction but incomplete. Comes without a belt frog. This works fine for safe storage only. Not for field use. Not a true repoduction.

Would have given it great but:
it does not come with the slip over belt loop that secures this sheath to ANYTHING so you get a sheath with no manner of anything to attach it.
Its in stock, but you really shouldn't ship a grease covered blade in it guys. I like my long leaf, but you shoved a greasy blade INTO the sheath and shipped it? What were you thinking?

Item ranked "Terrible!" because it does not seem to actually exist.  Be aware if ordering this product that it has been on back-order since at least Dec 2010, and the website has not been updated to reflect out of stock status.  Repeated calls to check on delivery only indicate that a subcontractor has orders to fabricate them, but is not delivering.  The last call indicated there is another PO for late Apr 2011 (?).

Update:  I finally received the scabbard, after almost half a year of waiting.  Perhaps the amount of disappointment I'm feeling is exacerbated by the delay, but I am thoroughly underwhelmed.  The scabbard ridiculously large for my longleaf; the tip is nowhere close to the bottom when fully inserted, and there's major rattle in every direction.  While I appreciate these blades vary in size and shape so there will be some fit issues...it's not even close.  The scabbard is completely useless for all purposes (carry, storage, protection, display) and needless to say it will be returned and I'll need to pursue custom leather elsewhere.  Maybe someone with a 99th percentile large blade will have better luck.
