Model 1850 Union Staff and Field Officer's Sword

OVERVIEW

This fine reproduction saber is a faithful copy of ones used. The hand-forged blade is British military spec steel that will flex over 20° and return to true. The leather handle is wire wrapped.

Befitting their rank, this sword displays a high degree of ornamentation. The brass guard has hand chased foliage and "U.S." between the branches. The blade is etched with foliage, military trophies, "U.S.", "E Pluribus Unum" and "Iron Proof." During the years before the war, many Confederate officers, including General Robert E. Lee, carried this sword in the Indian campaigns.

Full tang is peened and visible through the solid brass pommel, scabbard is blue steel. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.

Not sharp

The sword is made beautifully. It never says its not sharp. Even the comments say it's sharp but it's not. It is 5 star quality though.

Beautiful Sword

Very nice but grip is too thin

The sword is very nice and the quality of the hilt and blade castings and etchings are nicely done and we'll executed. However the grip is very thin and is uncomfortable to hold, And also has quite a different look then the original. Overall I would recommend it but would love to see them alter the grip to be more like the original.

We have pulled several swords from stock and have verified they are indeed wire wrapped with a wrapped cooper thread encompassed with a brass wire on each side. No one has called our customer service reps recently with problems on this sword. I do not know if you bought this from another supplier and thought it was the same; as you left this anonymously we cannot contact you to resolve any issues.
