I'm honestly quite disappointed. I was really hoping for it to have the balance and feel of the 2nd pattern/ early 3rd pattern, but it's just thick and clunky compared to the actual knives from WWII. Those knives have a balance closer to the guard, so they felt great in hand. The blade geometry tapered down to a much finer edge than this repro. I didn't like the current Sheffield reproductions because they modeled the later 3rd pattern where the blade is thinner, so the balance is moved too far into the handle and the blade itself is more fragile. With this reproduction, blade is ground way too thick for a dagger. It's more like a spike than a knife. The edge was so thick that the attempted sharpening was just for show.

Awesome product and built with quality. The edges came sharpened.

This appears to be a solidly constructed knife. The edge geometry isn't very good at all. The edge is very thick, almost blunt. It doesn't taper very much until just before it is sharpened. It does have a sharp edge but I don't think it would slice at all (It was a gift and I haven't done any test cutting with it). It has a very sharp point for thrusting or stabbing. This would make a decent display knife but I'm not sure I would trust it with any hard use.

A handsome example of the weapon. Sturdy, well finished, gracefully balanced, and contrary to some previous reviews, this is virtually laser sharpened along both edges. I couldn't be more pleased with this very nice Fairbairn reproduction. I doubt you'll find better-made more solid example.

Impressed with the build quality. Thick blade but perfectly balanced, handle heavy, just as specified. Not a dainty knife.

Seems to be a pretty good replica of the WW II fairbarin-sykes knife, and at a reasonable price.

I love this commando dagger. Very well made and great balance. The edge is ok but on this type of knife the user is the one who puts their signature edge on it. I broke out the honing stone and went to work and now I have a great fighting edge on it.

I am pretty much satisfied with the knife. The one drawback, as I see it, is that it did not have a 'real' edge on the blade. It is going to take some real work to put an edge on it but I can do that.

Knife came within two days of ordering. I appreciate the finish, weight and balance of the knife. As pictured, and a well made piece.

The blade isn’t properly aligned and trails off to one side. It ships dull and will require a lot of effort to sharpen properly. Mine was definitely handle heavy in terms of balance, not blade heavy as others have mentioned.

Well made, but needs to be sharped better
I bought it as a useful novelty and with some research this seemed to be the best Fairbairn Sykes fighting knife made. I’m not disappointed by the build quality because it’s very well made for being non USA made. (It is made in India) I was disappointed that the dagger didn’t come ready to use sharp like most knives do, even replicas. So, do I recommend over the current British made, yes. Do I recommend if you don’t have the means to put a sharp edge on it, no.

This is the best balanced dagger I have held. It is solid and comfortable in the hand.
Years ago, I had bought a modern iteration of a Fairbairn Sykes. There is simply no comparison. Magnificent blade!

I have one made by the current British military contractor, and this one is better. Finish/bluing is just beautiful. Very solid, strong construction. One of Windlass' best.

The entire knife is made out of steel. I took the nut off the back and took it apart. A magnet I have would gling to all four pieces of the knife. There is a very hard coating of something on the handle to keep it from rusting. This knife has a very real feel to it unlike other commando knives. And unlike other commando knives the tang is squared off instead of entering the hilt diamond shaped. This gives the knife the added strength a fighting knife should have. The only problem I had is that the two edges weren't sharpened to a point. Very dull. I received this item in very good shape. No rust.

Better than a Sheffield dagger purchased 10+ years ago. The ACC/Windlass blade is slightly thicker and symmetric as opposed to the Sheffield one purchased. The leather sheath is also better made. The dimensions are true as noted in the description by ACC.
