OVERVIEW

These original battle kukris were made prior to 1890. Some were made much earlier, but it’s difficult to determine the exact date. Each kukri was hand made. The steel was smelted, forged, shaped, and hammered in Nepal by individual Kamis. As spears and the Kora sword were being replaced by firearms, the kukri was the weapon of choice for hand-to-hand combat.
This longleaf kukri was made for war. It has a straighter spine and longer blade than BhojPure, and in the skilled hands of the Gurkha, it became a frightening weapon indeed. These have all seen service with both the Nepali military and the British Army. All of the blades are marked in Devanagari script with the date of manufacture. Long Leaf
Got one of these LL some years ago when first available. BIG and HEAVY chopper, practically a sword.. Dwarfs my other khukris... Got too old to do much khukri-ing, so these days it occupies an honored place on my "knife wall"...

One big knife, impressive conversation starter
Beautiful example. There were clear usage marks and it really gives the kukuri character. It was clearly used for batoning, there were a few nicks on the blade and handle. Some hammer
marks gave a slightly wavy appearance above the edge, but this is a hand forged piece of history. It is quite the conversation piece among my friends. The davanagari script is truly amazing. I had mine read by a Nepalese friend. It states an abbreviation of the Battalion It was used by, mentions the prime minister of the time, and the year on the Nepalese calendar. I am 6'2" and wear XXL gloves, and the handle fits my hand nicely, though not as great a grip as my Bojpure. This is a large 1 handed weapon. It is very front heavy.  Exactly 150 years old. Also, friend did not know what I meant when I said "Kukri," because it is not a word. Kukuri

Long leaf Kukri
Definitely had some wear, but that’s clearly to be expected. Handle was cracked and the blade was pitted. After some work it’s a great knife that makes a reasonable user or wall hanger.

Perfect
I paid extra for hand select. Handle and blade was in excellent shape. I also ordered the extra two small antlered knives and the new sheath. I am proud to have and display in my collection and if I need it for defence. Thank you guys.

Received a Good One!
I received my Longleaf Traditional Antique Kukri yesterday and really lucked out.  I chose hand-select but I didn't expect to get a very good one considering how few of these are actually still left - but yet I did indeed get a nice one.  No cracks or chips in the grip, great blade with a nice patina, and still has a relatively decent edge.  It is is well worn with evidence of hand-forging and lots of use but in great shape overall. The inscription on the spine identifies this piece as belonging to the Shree Jagadal Battalion , which was raised in 1849 and still around today (though its mission is now Air Defense).  Super pleased!

Lots of rust and pitting. Paid 10 for hand select
There is a lot more rust and pitting than I expected. I paid hand-select but it didn't look like they wiped away any cosmoline.

The blade is dinged up as well.

Longleaf Khukuri
I ordered 1 Longleaf antique kukri - and absolutely love it!  There's always something special about being able to hold a piece of history... and at this price, it's one of the best deals in a while.  I'm actually surprised these haven't sold out yet.  I might have to buy a second Longleaf....

I selected the "Hand Selected" option.  It is beautiful.  Great patina, and blood on the blade! Nicks and marks of use (not on the cutting edge and just add character).  This thing is beautiful.  Handle is tight, and perfect with no flaws.  Mine came sharp, and slightly dirty.  It is a giant, and a beast.  Wonderful piece.  I ordered a new scabbard separately and it is very nice also came with the 2 knives for sharpening and fire starting (Supposedly).  I am surprised at how nice this is and would definitely order another.  Great bargain and history.

It's not in the best of shape, but it's decent. I ordered three different kukris. Two of them needed the tips reshapened, and rust repair. I am a bladesmith so it wasn't that hard, it was actually fun repairing history.

Very pleased with this. Given the age, it was in remarkable nice condition. The one I received (NOT hand-selected) had a piece nissing from the handle, but no cracks. Blade was straight with no nicks on the cutting edge. Script was stong on the spine. Get one and own a piece of history!

I didn't take the "hand select" option because there was no sale price for that. I rolled the dice and paid the 69.00 Black Friday sale price. The Kukri came in a plastic bag and was covered in cosmoline (including the wooden handle). After some diligent scrubbing with fine steel wool and oil (and Murphy's Oil Soap for the handle) I revealed a beautiful and serviceable fighting knife that was over 100 years old and still sharp! I wish you provide a translation of the Devanagari script on the spine.

Perfect condition except for some notches on the cutting edge, but I love that about it, that just shows its history. Wood handle was in excellent condition. No rust whatsoever.

This is an awesome Khukuri handmade from Nepal. Completely authentic. Plausibly of WWI to WWII period.
I requested this item to be hand selected. It came in incredibly good condition. It did required a bit of cleaning, that was expected, however in a short amount of time it's beauty shined forth.
With some reconditioning and sharpening the edge, this baby is reading and very capable to be used in the field or to be put on display.
I most definitely will purchase more of these fantastic Khukuri in the future.

Will be a beautiful blade when I am done.
for the record though, its not cosmolene on them (may not have spelled it correctly its been a long time to use that word)
its straight up axle grease
or at least it was on the blade you sent me and then shoved it into my new sheath coating the inside of it with
you guessed it
GREASE!
do you train the packing and shipping minions or just get them as day labor?

I would give the hand selected blade a 5 star rating but the shipping left a lot to be desired in how it was packaged. I can't get over the fact you shoved a grease covered blade into a NEW sheath and thought it was OK.

Wow!!  Paid for the hand select.  Item arrived well packaged.  I took out the kukri from the plastic that it was shipped in and the blade appeared to be entirely covered in an old cosmoline type protective (which is a good thing).  I soaked it in mineral spirits (for about one hour) and the blade had absolutely no rust on it!!  There was some discoloration and a small pit, but wow what a nice antique kukri.  Like many reviews on the internet have stated about these longleaf kukris, there was a crack in the handle.  But the handle is tight, and it's an antique- hey it's not supposed to be perfect!!  All in all a very impressive longleaf antique kukri in great condition (in better condition then the BhojPure kukri that I ordered -that was in relatively good condition).  Once again, thank you Atlanta Cutlery for a beautiful item!!

Got my second one in July 4th sale.  Ordered hand select. Grip has a crack in it, but still tight. Blade is in good shape. Different markings than my other one. Each of these seems to be slightly different - makes for fun ordering. Not sure what you'll get.
