OVERVIEW
Since 1943 these Kukris have been made by one government contractor - Windlass Steelcrafts. The original, official military issue! Hand-forged from high carbon steel, each includes a regulation sheath with 2 accessory knives - the Chakmak & Karda. A must for outdoor activities that require chopping and cutting.
Used with devastating effectiveness by the famous Nepalese Gurkhas in the Siege of Delhi in 1857, in the trenches of WWI France, throughout the New Guinea jungle in WWII, and with distinction in the Falkland Islands. The full profile tang blade is an impressive 1/4" thick with deep grooves and the traditional religious notch symbolic of the trident (3 pronged spear) of Shiva. It is differentially heat treated with an approximate Rockwell hardness of 45 at the spine and 53 at the cutting edge. Traditional, native hardwood handle and metal butt plate. Includes leather scabbard with Chakmak & Karda, small accessory knives traditionally used with the Kukri. Genuine military issue to Gurkha Regiments in India, this is the only Kukri on the market that comes with a copy of the government contract, the ordinance drawing, and spec sheet. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts and comes factory sharp.
The scabbard: The scabbard is designed to have a slightly loose fit and is intended to be worn with the blade-tip down. Because of the extreme compound curvature of the blade, a conventional tight fit would make the knife very difficult to remove without cutting through the scabbard and possibly the hand holding it. Additionally, the wood lining in the sheath may absorb moisture and swell in humid conditions; this must be accounted for when the scabbard is made.

You need one of these!
This is my favorite (so far!) of several kukris I have bought from Atlanta Cutlery for myself and others. These are very useful and impressive tools, and I use mine often around my hunting acreage. My Dad was as good a man as I have ever seen with a double bit Michigan axe, but found his kukri to be much handier and more useful for clearing brush around his deer blinds.

Seriously Cool Kukri
This Gurkha Regimental Kukri is one serious knife. The balance is quite good for it's size. It is weight forward as it is designed to be but it feels very good and swings nice. The fit and finish is excellent and the blade is quite sharp. Well designed and likely a bit intimidating in the hands of a Gurkha!

My Go-To Camp Knife
I have used this khukuri as a camp knife 3 times now. At first, when comparing it to my antiques and Nepal made khukuris, i thought it was on the bulky / heavy side. However, after putting it to good use, I absolutely love it. On one of the trips we compared this khukuri to a khukuri machete and two other machetes. This khukuri did at least as well, and sometimes out performed, the other 3 tools. I highly recommend adding ACC"s sharpening service.

Kukri arrived today and I couldn't be more pleased! This is a serious chopping tool with a fit and finish that exceeded my expectation. Much better than your typical military issue blade. I purchased the sharpening option and I recommend this option highly unless you have a lot of experience in blades with a unique Shape. The edge requires some final buffing to suit me but given the heft and quality of this blade, I don't consider this a problem. It will be a permanent tool on my 4-wheeler. The price for a knife/tool of this caliber is outstanding.

Very solid construction and sharp blade. Definitely a good chopper and fully functional as designed. Only issue was the color of the handle in the one I received. It was not the dark walnut color shown in the picture. It was a much lighter wood color. I bought some dark walnut Danish oil and stained it myself. Extra work, but not too bad.

I've purchased two of these from ACC and it is the best heavy work knife I have ever owned. I have been taking them camping for years. A great chopper and camp chore knife. I bought it to use as a camping tool. It replaces a Bowie knife and a machete. I ordered it unsharpened. I have the skills and tools to put an edge on it. Convex edge not so sharp an angle as the concave edge. It came with a satin finish. I will polish it to a high sheen to use as a signal mirror, just in case such a need arises.
Other posters note that it's loose in the sheath. Yep, mine too. It's a wooden sheath, covered in leather. Very well made. Just don't hang upside down and the knife won't fall out.
The two little knives will probably just stay home in a drawer. I imagine that originally one was a patch knife for use with a black powder musket.
All in all, I feel I got a great deal.

Five stars for what it is.. a simply made basic field knife. Ive purchased several from A C, including a ww2-issue stamped with the British broad-arrow mark and "M44". When I got my first years ago, we thought they were a HUGE knife, long and heavy. Fact is compared to other field knives Ive purchased since, these khuks are sorta light weight and certainly not over "long".

This knife meets my expectations. There is a learning curve involved if you buy a kukri. The shealth is a little bit loose but there is a solution to that. I would recommend that you purchase this knife sharpened by Atlanta cutlery. If you want to learn how to sharpen one correctly yourself then do what I did. I bought this because I wanted to learn what owning a kukri is all about. So, that means learning how to take care of it,how to maintain it, and how to sharpen it. It's made out of good steel and its good quality workmanship. I enjoy it very much. Thank you, Atlanta cutlery.

Nice knife. I paid to have it sharpened. Glad I did as the inside curve isn't to be sharpened. It has nice balance and with limited movement of my wrist, results of a previous accident, it has a nice cutting path that doesn't require a lot of movement. Only issue is with the belt loop on the sheath. It is way to big, but with a few screws to adjust the opening size for the belt being used, it works fine.

I have all the tools to sharpen them, it will shave now after a round with an axe file and a diamond steel.
they failed to provide the spec sheet as it lists in the included tid bits, not a real issue just a lack of final inspection before they closed up the box.
the sheath is amazing leather work, its a definite plus
if they had provided all the stuff listed it would be 5 of 5 but ya gotta call em like you get them out of the packing don't ya?

This is a fine Kukri especially for the price. I did not pay extra to have it sharpened, I wish I had. It came somewhat sharpened, but not along the entire edge. The last 3/4" of tip still was flat & un-sharpened, and about 1/32" wide. I used a file then a diamond hone and finally ceramic sticks and now it is sharp. Wood to metal fit is excellent. The scabbard is VERY nice and well made.
