OVERVIEW

Of all the Confederate swords and sabers, this was the one used most. Wielded by the troops under the command of J.E.B. Stuart, Wade Hampton and Nathan Bedford Forrest, this sword dispatched hordes of Yankee soldiers. This is a very distinctive saber with a brass guard similar to that of an 1860 Light Cavalry Saber (which itself was a copy of an earlier French saber).

This authentic, hand made replica has a flexible, ornate blade and leather grip wrapped with brass wire. The blade has the classic Confederate "unstopped" fuller. The scabbard has brass furniture, ring mounts and drag. You'll find it in Albaugh's Confederate Edged Weapons pg. 137. Has brown handle. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts and comes factory sharp.

Sword Purchase
Great purchase!  Item is worthwhile for reenactments, as a display piece or for a collector.  Finely detailed, both weight and length are accurate. Head and shoulders above cheaper "reproductions". Highly recommend.

I ordered this sword when it was on a discount and compare the same model from other manufacturers. I have not uesd it a lot yet but allreadye fell that future custommers should be aware of some things. The sword feels solid and handles well. Looks great. Though -  I do not like the handle as the metal wire feels really unfoncortable cutting in to the skin giving hotspots all over the hand. This sword should best be used with gloves in order top prevent blisters from the handles metal wire. The thing surprising me the most though was that after ordering the sharpening service for the sword feels dull even to the touch of the hand. I have a great collection of different swords and even with the "sharpening" service I would class this sword as near to dull. For exxample it would not cut thorugh a simple 2 liter milk bottle made of paper and filled with water. Further - you will not cut yourself holding the sword in your bare hand against the edge. Still I think the swords feels properly balanced and looks great so I will still give it 4 stars - for the price 5 stars in paranthesis. And even without the discount it is definately worth the full price of 140 USD.

I made this purchase when it was a deal of the week.  For the reduced price it turned out to be a no brainer. It is a beautiful sword.  I was attracted to it because of the non traditional beige leather grip.  The construction is quite good in my opinion. Nothing loose , no rattles.  The scabbard is well constructed and would make a decent weapon by itself.
I did not order the sharpening service as that makes the sword non-returnable if for any reason you do not like it . I intend to use it as a display piece mostly but at some point I will put an edge on the blade in case I get involved in a cavalry charge.   I would have preferred the sword not have CSA stamped on it.  That is just a personal preference as I was not looking for a north/south replica , I just wanted a cavalry sword.
To sum up , it was a heck of a deal on a well made, very attractive sword.
I hope the offer more deals like this in the future .
