Companion Blade

This is an incredible blade. Mine was near mirror polish when I got it, which is unusual. Right away I had problems fitting handle material because the tang has a sharp curve reminiscent of a flintlock dueling pistol, so two inches wide fitted to the top of the spine left a lot of metal hanging out the bottom. I use native black walnut for my scales so I solved the problem by ordering three inch wide six inch long scales from my walnut guy. I added one inch brass bolsters to move the balance a little more to the rear but I lost the front pin hole under the bolsters, so on my next one I’ll use 3/4. I thought I’d drill another pinhole to replace the one I lost.  Wrong! The steel was so hard that a cobalt bit would not pierce it, so I had to settle for two pins.  I’m finishing it up now and it is a gorgeous piece. I’ll make a sheath for it and it will be my go-to blade for camp chores.

I really like your blades. Generally they are well made and a real bargain at your prices. It allows me to assemble a knife for a customer that is beautiful, useful and unique with out the high cost of custom forged blades. These blades seem quite tough and do take a sharp edge.

Really a big knife and is about the same as my fighter blade testament.

A magnificent blade. This thing is definitely going to be a camp blade for me. It has plenty of heft and the grip is angled perfectly for chopping tasks. I put oak handle scales on it and it is indeed a beauty to use. One point to note, this  blade (at least mine) did not come with a factory edge. It is a false edge so you will be required to put your own edge on it. But hey, I prefer my own edge over a factory edge anyway. Enjoy!!!

I have had one of these for years. Good in the Kitchen, good in the wood.

I was looking for the largest blank blade available while being full tang. I don't know how to work with stick tangs yet. When it arrived I thought it would be thick and hard to sharpen. Everyone should get this blade, because the grind is perfect. Once I sharpened it I used to cut a 5 inch diameter tree, the companion completely sunk deep. The piercing capabilities can go through anything. After testing this single edge dagger, it was still SHARP. The tip has a great taper. This is one of the best knives I own.
