OVERVIEW

This medieval Bosworth Longsword is from Windlass Steelcrafts' Battlecry collection. Designed specifically to be used and made from 1065 high carbon steel with a darkened, battle-hardened finish, extra wide tang, and tempering to a low 50s RC. This pre-sharpened blade has gone through rigorous testing. The hands-on nature of the manufacturing by master smiths makes this line unique. Includes a belt frog, matching scabbard with belt stop, and certificate of authenticity signed by each smith that touched your blade through every step of the forging process.

The longsword was a central weapon of the Science of Defence and an indispensable part of the chivalric art of arms for centuries. This sword is no exception. A beautifully proportioned weapon with dynamic handling qualities, it is a harmony of mass and dimension. With a long, semi-tapered diamond cross-section fitted to a round ergonomic pommel on a double-handed grip, this is a fine example of the perfection that was achieved in this popular design. Against any opposing arms or armor, it was capable of quick deadly cuts as well as accurate and forceful thrusts.

Aptly named for the bloody late 15th-century battle during the War of the Roses, the Bosworth is a fast and capable war sword adeptly able to execute the deadly “Mastercut” techniques so closely associated with double-handed blades of the period. With a slim handle that virtually begs to be gripped in the diverse and effective winding actions that this kind of sword ideally allowed, it features a surprisingly small heft for its size. This ebony-toned “queen of weapons” is perfectly suited to foot-combat in war, judicial duel, or knightly challenge. This is a substantial and graceful weapon that will leave the wielder every confidence it could readily defend life if called upon. Discover with it just why this form of longsword was respected for centuries and celebrated against whatever it encountered.

Damn Fine Sword
I have one, although I did not purchase from Atlanta Cutlery, but it is an absolutely AMAZING SWORD! I have thoroughly abused this sword over the last several months, and there's not a chip or bend anywhere on the blade..just some scratches..but otherwise the blade looks and performs exactly as it did the day I got it. It's incredibly durable. I've never been in armed melee combat, but if I was to find myself in that kind of scenario with this sword, I'd have 100% confidence in sword that it would handle the task.

Handles like a dream.

Honestly, having only handled a small selection of swords at this point, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but this sword blows the rest of the water.

The only gripes I have with my Bosworth Longsword is that on one side, the middle of the guard was filed down on a slight angle, so the ridge that runs along the fuller is on a slight angle. Being a minor gripe that has no affect on the handling of this fine weapon, it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

The marbled or stonewashed bluing is actually really beautiful in person, something even my photos can't really capture, that said, if you don't like that sort of thing in general then you've already made your mind up.

I would absolutely recommend this sword to anyone who likes the look of it and would like a nice, responsive and suprisingly light Longsword to add to their collection.

I'm certainly very happy with it.
