OVERVIEW

This Beaded Bone Obsidian Blade Knife is handmade by master artist Dale Duby using the methods of old; grinding, abrading, percussion, and pressure flaking. Each knife is one of a kind and the blades are attached using sinew.

Handcrafted of naturally occurring materials, as little alteration as possible is used to preserve its natural beauty. Each handle is minimally worked to save most of its original shape, so color, grain, and shape will vary from the knife shown in the photo, guaranteeing you that the knife you purchase will be one-of-a-kind. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist. Includes hand-carved stand.

  • Overall: Approximately 9-1/2"

Please note:  Obsidian color may vary from the photo. We are not able to guarantee a specific obsidian color. Obsidian is formed from the erupted lava of a volcano. Although black is the most common color, it can be brown, tan, or green. When hematite (iron oxide) is present, it produces red and brown varieties. If tiny gas bubbles remained in the lava flow during crystallization, green varieties were created, as well as others with a golden sheen, or types with dark bands or mottling in gray, green, or even yellow.

The handle is very nice and the blade is beautiful, however I am a little disappointed that the blade is really dull almost blunt, I know how sharp obsidian can be, however I did not expect razor sharp but I did expect sharper than a butter knife, if it were sharp I would have given it 5 stars.
It's a display piece only .

Gorgeous knives, but don't drop them! I bought one for display and had to order another when it accidentally got knocked off the shelf. The first was almost transparent but the second one I received was opaque with some red splashed in. Very interesting pieces!
