Excellent WW 1 Replica
Very accurate - can hardly tell the difference from an original. Well made and very sturdy. Perfect for display or for re-enactors. Very reasonable pricing and quick delivery.

If you collect WWII edged weapons, you need to add this knife to your collection, you won't be disappointed.
Wow, I really like these knives, this is the second one I have purchased.  The fit and finish of the knife are truly exceptional,  the wooden handle is especially well done, an accurate clone of the original down to the size and location of the finger grooves.  But the scabbard is what truly sets this knife apart.  Authentic down to the maker's markings and properly colored hardware, this is a work of art.  This knife and scabbard are a among the best, most historically accurate edged weapon repros I have ever seen.

Nice pointy-sharp trench beast
Nice reproduction of an uncommon fighting knife.
Well made. Not nearly as heavy as you would think it would be. I like it a lot.
My only criticism, and it's a minor one, is that it fits very loosely in the sheath. What I mean is, if you hold it by the handle, the sheath just slides right off. There is zero retention.

Very good
Great one; it is not clear in terms of actual purpose, though: the edges are not sharp. Is it theoretically possible to sharpen them? How our soldiers during WWI  use the piece it being so edge dull (the point of it is sharp, nevertheless)?

Better then 1917
It's as perfect a reproduction as I have ever had.  Fit, finish are with out peer.  I would say better then the ones being issued in 1917

This one is so good and well made I had to buy 2 more one for a extra and one for a gift!!
The wooden handle is hard wood and after wear it looks like my 101 year old original!!

Nice piece of history

In general I was pleased in this repro however as it was the last one you had in stock, it had no box or packaging. And it had some damage to the skull crusher pommel, I'm thinking it was a return, but for all of that I consider it to be a good value.

I bought it as a gift and he really likes it. There was a couple spots on it that I felt looked a little flawed but over all I thought it was very nice.

It arrived in the mail today and a very good reproduction, all the handle parts fit tight.  I just wish I would have been able to request blood grooves on all three sides in case I ever get an urge to sharpen this one.

I picked this up as a "Deal of the day" and figured, for that price even if it's lame, what could go wrong? Well everything went right with this knife.  The attention to detail is amazing, down to and most impressively the sheath. One of the reviewers is wrong. the originals were hollow behind the pyramids on the knuckle guard.  The knife may have been a historical failure by requiring a soldier to carry a second blade for actual cutting task or using an e-Tool to slay huns in the trenches, but this repro by Windlass is so identical to the real thing, that it is uncanny. If you have to have an original because that's what your collection dictates, then so be it, but for putting together a costume, display or wanting something special for when the Zombies come: this is as good as it gets for an M1917 replica.

This is a great reproduction.  I am buying it.  However, the grip is stamped steel and is not of the same heavy steel of the original which was milled out of a piece of steel, so there were no indentations in the knuckle guard.  Buy this because you do not want to pay for an original.  Great display item.

Outstanding reproduction; very close to my original. (Only newer) the bluing was excellent. The sheath was every bit as good as the knife. Well done!

I would feel comfortable  taking this replica into the trenches of WWI. I would  trust my life to this blade. Highest quality. A faithful  copy  of the original pieces. Just be prepared for a long wait if they are out of stock. But well worth the wait.
